Because a competitive two party political system is necessary for the excellence and responsiveness of a democratic government and reduces the potential for corruption it is the mission of the Hancock County Democratic Party to regain a competitive balance and elect individuals who represent the values of the Democratic Party.

We are committed to educating citizens about Democratic values and the  Democratic view of government.

We encourage the development and adoption of progressive policies and issues that put people first, that are inclusive in nature, and take long-term interests of the entire community into consideration.

What We Believe

Government should serve the public interest before special interests.

Government should serve the needs of the ordinary citizen first.  It should protect children, the elderly and other vulnerable populations.

Individual rights must always take priority over corporate rights.

Taxation and government spending should be responsible, equitable and modest.

The Democratic Party is the party of inclusion and tolerance.

Protection and maintenance of the middle class is vital to the future of the nation.

It is a moral obligation of government and its citizens to help the less fortunate.

An efficient government staffedf by dedicated public servants can help resolve community challenges.

Government must ensure that all Americans have equal opportunity in education and employment.
