The Hancock County Democrat Club hosts Pete Buttigieg, candidate for Indiana State Treasurer, at its Thursday meeting at 7 p.m. at the Greenfield Ponderosa. A magna cum laude graduate of Harvard University, where served as President of Harvard's Institute of Politics, Pete was named a Rhodes Scholar and attended Oxford University where he studied economics. At Oxford he served as an editor at the prestigious Oxford International Review. He is the co-founder of the Democratic Renaissance Project and a Fellow at the Truman National Security Project. Pete's career includes a stint working on Capitol Hill and at NBC. He is a past winner of the John F. Kennedy Library's "Profiles in Courage" national essay contest. In order to run for office, Pete left a position as an associate with a top global management consulting firm where he traveled the world, advising senior business, government, and nonprofit leaders on issues ranging from economic recovery to retail investment strategy to enegry regulation. Pete's work has appeared on NPR, the International Herald Tribune, the Boston Globe and the New York Times. Michael Adkins, Hancock County Democratic Chair, said Mr. Buttegieg may be the most accomplised candidate for office he has seen. The meeting is open to everyone in the community.
